Simple Past digunakan untuk menunjukan kejadian yang terjadi dimasa lampau

Rumus Verbal:

(+)	S (i,you,they,we,she,he,it) + V2
(-)	S (i,you,they,we,she,he,it) + did + not + v1
(?)	Did + S (i,you,they,we,she,he,it) + V1 + ?

Contohnya:

(+) i ate cake.

(-)i did not eat cake.

(?)did i eat cake?

Rumus Non Verbal:

(+)	S + was/were + o
(-)	S + was/were + not + o
(?)	Was/were + S + o + ?

Note: was digunakan untuk subject i, she, he,it sedangkan were digunakan untuk   subject they,we,you.

Contohnya:

(+) she was small.

(-)she was not small

(?) was she small?
